Lee Smith joins the Chattanooga Music Academy with over four decades of deep-rooted musical and educational expertise in the Chattanooga community. A dedicated violinist, she has performed as a member of the Chattanooga Symphony for 40 years, bringing a wealth of professional artistry and orchestral experience to her students.

In addition to her performance career, Lee is a passionate educator. She recently retired after a distinguished 20-year career as a gifted education teacher, during which she specialized in creating innovative, interdisciplinary curricula. Notably, she developed "String Think," a unique program within the gifted education department that masterfully integrated music, mathematics, and critical thinking. Her foundational impact on local music education also includes establishing the vibrant string program at the St. Nicholas School.

Now returning to her roots in the violin studio, Lee is thrilled to welcome a new generation of students. She is an active member of the Suzuki Association of the Americas (SAA), with registered training in Suzuki Violin Book 1. Her teaching philosophy blends the nurturing, high-standard approach of the Suzuki method with her extensive background in advanced pedagogy and critical thinking, creating an enriching and tailored environment for every young musician.
